C.A.R.O.L. Food Drive Happening NOW
It is time to “Stuff the Bus!” Now through December 13 our Skyridge students are collecting non-perishable food items to make a difference for others in need within our Camas community.
All donations received through December 6 will be included in our annual ”Stuff the Bus” competition between Camas and Washougal cities and school districts. Bins are placed throughout the communities and donations collected. On the final day, which this year occurs on December 6, buses from each school district weight in on truck scales, then journey throughout their district to gather the donated food items and return to the scales for final weight in and celebration. The real winners are the communities, individuals in need and students which experience compassion during this competitive process. This long-standing rivalry between the Camas and Washougal communities has sparked enough generousity to feed many! Last year 85,000 pounds of food was collected!

The Sister City Exchange Program has been active in Camas for over 30 years. This year, 10-12 students along with district and parent chaperones will travel to the southern part of Poland near Krakow. Tentative dates for this year’s trip are June 18-28. Information regarding trip expenses and details will be discussed at the February 6 meeting.

Skyridge PTO: what a team!
Here at Skyridge we are fortunate to have an incredible PTO that support our students and staff in countless ways throughout the school year!
Their efforts include, but are not limited to, various fundraisers providing annual PTO grants to Skyridge which directly support student learning, providing spirit wear purchase opportunities, volunteering throughout the year for school and classroom events and activities, supporting our athletic and extracurricular activities programs, providing staff appreciation treats and recognition, and providing classroom supplies mid-year. This year they took on improving our large front entry planters and are supporting a native garden project which is currently being developed.
If you would like to get involved, please send an email to skypto@yahoo.com and get connected
with other Skyridge parents, staff and students!
CEF Auction Chair needed
That’s right – the CEF Auction never sleeps. Believe it or not, preparations for the 2014 Auction are well underway. In fact, the date and venue have already been secured, but one piece is missing: a co-chair for the committee. Or maybe we should say a dynamic co-chairing duo. Three-year alum Mandy Huth has committed to co-chairing this year’s auction in a supporting role, but she needs a person who will take over the reins. If you have been looking for a good way to get seriously involved in fundraising in Camas, this may be the job for you! See this job description for more detail about what’s involved, and contact Mandy at cefcamas@gmail.com if you are at all curious.
