The Skyridge kids did us proud once again this year at the Greater St. Helens League Middle School District Tournament held on 3/23/17 at Shahala Middle School. Our Varsity #1 team, made up of 8th graders Alex, George, Lucas M., and Tommy, won it all in the final round that pitted them against the best of the best from Cascade and Shahala. Skyridge Varsity #1 advanced to the championship round after amassing the highest total points in the meet through one written and two oral rounds. Impressive. One of those students on Varsity #1, Alex, was also a member of last year’s League champion team. Well done, Alex. By the way, this is also the first time Skyridge has repeated as champions, marking the 4th League championship for our team in the last 17 years.
In the JV “international” tournament, Lucas W. and Devin teamed up with students from Wy’east, Shahala, and Covington to take home top honors as part of JV#4, edging out four other Skyridge players who also advanced to the championship round on their respective JV teams. Congrats to those students, Selina, Anabel, Aayush, and Jackson, who displayed awesome grit and fortitude to make it to the final round of competition.
All in all, it was awesome night for Skyridge! I’m proud of all the hard work that each player did this year to learn how to work effectively with their teams and have some fun. Bravo!
